Eagle baseball earns national recognition after outstanding season

The Maize High School baseball program is receiving national and statewide recognition following one of the most successful seasons in school history.

The Eagles finished the 2026 season with a 27-2 record, reaching the Class 6A state semifinals while spending much of the spring ranked among Kansas' top teams.

The season was highlighted by national recognition from the National High School Baseball Coaches Association, which ranked Maize No. 24 in its final national rankings. The Eagles were also the highest-ranked team from Kansas, highlighting the program's success at the state level.

Leading the Eagles was longtime head coach Rocky Helm, who was named the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches Class 6A Coach of the Year. The honor recognizes Helm's leadership in guiding Maize through another exceptional season and continuing the tradition of excellence within the program.
