Students excel in Trig-Star competition

Students at Maize High School recently demonstrated their math skills in the annual Trig-Star competition, a national program sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors that highlights real-world applications of trigonometry in surveying.

During the timed, one-hour exam, participants solved complex problems using right triangle formulas and the laws of sines and cosines, showcasing their technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

Addison Wadsworth earned top honors at MHS, receiving a $100 award and a plaque for first place. Krysten LaPish placed second, earning $75, and Mason Bauman finished third, receiving $50.

Addison will advance to compete at the state level, where top performers have the opportunity to earn scholarships and additional awards. Good luck, Addison!
